A functional and comfortable prosthetic limb is vital in rehabilitation after lower-limb
amputation, which is conventionally suspended using a personalised socket. Sockets are
designed and fitted by a skilled prosthetist, but limited data and measurements are available.
Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) methods might be enhanced by
simulation of the socket-residual limb coupling, but few researchers have access to
volumetric imaging data required. Accordingly, this study works towards an open-source
statistical model of the transtibial residual limb.
